Yahoo's new messenger app Livetext debuts on iOS

Not long ago the word internet messenger was synonymous with Yahoo owing to the hugely popular Yahoo Messenger. However with rise of the mobile internet platform and consequence shift of focus from desktops, Yahoo's once successful instant messaging platform came to be replaced with a plethora of mobile apps like Whatsapp, Google Hangout, Facebook Messenger, Hike, Skype and many more.
Now the company has quietly launched Livetext, a video chat app which it describes as "the most natural way to have real conversations"
According to TechCrunch the app which went live earlier this month, introduces a unique form of video texting that combines traditional text messages with video that doesn't include an audio feed. The idea is to offer a more natural form of communication where users can see each other's reactions in real-time as they participate in conversations.
The app however is not to be confused with video calling. Unlike Skype , Viber or FaceTime, Livetext doesn't yet support video calling. Instead, one user would begin texting a friend and then when the message's recipient entered the chat session, you would immediately see them.
The app also offers user profiles which include a Livetext ID and it can help you find friends based on your address book on your phone. Moreover, group chats are not available, and only one-on-one conversations are allowed.
As of now the app has been made available only at the Hong Kong iTunes App Store, but a  US or global release is speculated to be just around the corner.

The long awaited MotoG 3rd generation is just around the corner

One of the most awaited phones of the year is all set for a launch at the end of July. Motorola's previous MotoG model or MotoG 2nd generation is getting an upgrade and being launched as the all new Moto G3 or MotoG 3rd generation.
Motorola has sent out invites for an event slated for July 28 in New Delhi. Although it hasn't mentioned the launch of the device on the invite it is almost certain given the earlier company announcements that third iteration of Moto G is all set to be launched. Although the Moto x 3rd generations is also slated to release this year, we do not know yet if both these will be launched together at this point.Motorola is also hosting events in London, New York and Sau Paulo (Brazil) on the same day after the Indian event. The global invite comes with the message, "Your relationship status is about to change."
Motorola has also launched a micro-site for the event, which has a rather interesting quote saying, "Yes. We're in a relationship with our phone. We feel lost without it. We trust them with our most personal questions, photos, stories and secrets. They never leave our side. But shouldn't all that care and devotion you show be returned? A better mobile relationship is on its way."
Leaks have suggested that the next generation of the Moto G will be a major upgrade over the 2nd gen Moto G and is expected to come with a 5-inch or a 5.2-inch full high deifinition (HD) display and it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 sysytem on chip (SoC) with 1.7GHz quad core processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
Given the array of 4G handsets that have hit the Indian smartphone market this year it is expected that the said MotoG model will get a 4G update as well.
Smartphone giants have always slashed the prices of models whose upgraded versions are on the verge of releasing. Older models of Google's Nexus, Apple's i Phone and Samsung's Galaxy Note,  have all had their prices slashed on the eve of an upgraded model release. Similarly Moto G 2nd Gen got a price cut on July 8 to Rs 9,999.

T-Mobile slashes $120 off the leather LG G4

T-Mobile has slashed $120 off the leather LG G4 for a limited time, bringing its price tag down to $479.76. And if you order yours before the end of this month, it also comes with a second battery, charging cradle, and a limited edition leather back free of charge.
The G4 actually has a list price of $650, but T-Mobile has been selling it for $599.76 since the handset made its debut less than three months ago — around the same price as other flagship handsets. But if you pick one up soon, you’ll get it for just $479.76.
That’s just $19.99 a month over 24 months, and as if that deal wasn’t good enough, T-Mobile will throw in a spare battery with cradle charger, and a limited-edition leather back if you buy before July 31.
We reviewed the G4 back in May, and we found it to be an excellent smartphone with a terrific display, great battery life, expandable storage — which is becoming a rarity these days — and quite possibly the best smartphone camera on the market.
